July 2009
Well I know I have been slow to update the website, but for good reason. We have been so extremely busy here at DMD and it is not going to slow down anytime soon. We have had had a few very succesful shows so far this season and are looking forward to more starting again at the Summer Festival at Palgrave July 17-19 followed by the North American Junior and Young Riders Championships to be held at the Kentucky Horse Park.
We had a very successful first show hosted by Kawartha Lakes Dressage Association at Saddlewood. DMD took 5 horses to this show. David had a successful show with Ribot in the 3rd level and Wenonah in the PSG. DMD student Andrea Martin competed with great success in the Young Rider division as did Amy Jager with both of her horses Jive and Key West. The highlight of the show must have been Amy's win in the Young Rider freestyle with an incredible score of 73%.
David and Ribot |
The next outing was the Springfest Dressage Show at Halton Place. David rode Fenix, owned by Leslie Degroote, and ended up with two top place finishes in the Prix St. Georges. Andrea Martin again showed her horse Optimist in the Advanced Young Rider division coming home with a reserve championship for her hard work this weekend.
June 5-7
DMD attended the Spring Into Dressage horse show at Palgrave, this time with 8 horses. David showed two horses for Carla Bahr, Ribot in the 3rd level division and Wenonah in the PSG division. Both horses had a very good horse show with many top placings and high scores. Kim Izzo brought her new horse Astaire for his first outing and ended up having a very succesful show coming home with the championship in the Starter Division. Michelle Filsinger competed her mare Debutante successfully in the 2nd level. Kathryn Martin competed for the first time with her horse Wilbur in the Amateur PSG division. She had a very successful weekend winning two firsts and one second and winning the Prix St. Georges Amateur division reserve championship. Andrea Martin picked up more qualifying scores for the North American Young Rider Championships on Optimist.
